The Kansas City Royals are looking to make a run for the division title in
one of the weakest divisions out there this season. With massive speed and
quality pitching, we believe that the playoffs could be in sight....
Catcher
Mayne is definately the starter at this position. He has decent contact
and
has very solid defense. Don't expect anyone else to take his place on the
roster...
First Base-
Can anyone say AL Batting Title? Mike Sweeney will be one of the best
first
basemen in all of baseball. He will be our main offensive weapon...
Second Base-
A surprising starter at this position. Guiel will be the main at second.
He should hit many doubles as he did in the test sim. Hopefully he can
drive in some of our speedsters...
Third Base-
Carlos Febles is our expected starter at third base. With his speed he
should be one of the top basestealers if his average can hold up...
Short Stop-
Desi Relaford will become our #2 hitter in the lineup. With his CH and SP he
could be a very exciting player in Kansas City.
Outfield-
Endy Chavez will be the leadoff hitter for the Royals. We traded a lot to
obtain him, but he should be worth it. Carlos Beltran will also start.
Hopefully he can keep his average up. He has a great combo of power and
speed. Our last OF slot will probably go to Jay Payton. He was
acquired
from FLA in the Penny deal and he should be a decent late lineup player.
Pitching-
The pitching is the main thing the Royals are trying to acquire. The
youngsters Penny and Padilla will have to learn a lot from the wiry
veterens. Reynolds, Lima, Baldwin, and Traschel should be in the rotation
at some point in the season. Our bullpen is very very weak. Except for our
superstar closer in JOhn Smoltz. Probably the best in the game.
Don't be
suprised if Smoltz is moved into the starting rotation if the other guys
can't handle the job.
Future-
We are tryin to trade everything that has to deal with our future. All
prospects and ammy picks are expected to be traded for veterens during this
season.
Projected Record-
We hope that we can win our division with a record of 92-70. It is a weak
division in a power league. The AL has many powerhouses, but we hope to
win
most of our divisional games.
