MINNESOTA -- If you thought the scores in Colorado were scary, you ain't seen nothing yet.

Within a matter of hours, the Minnesota Twins have been completely transformed into a team that certainly looks capable of taking advantage of the weak AL Central. Gone are prospects Joe Mauer, Scott Tyler, Michael Cuddyer, Justin Morneau, and B.J. Garbe. Also leaving is starters Eric Milton, Kyle Lohse,, Rick Reed, Jacque Jones, and Cristian Guzman.

But the return certainly looks to be worth it. The new outfield features not three, but four amazing potential All-Stars in Larry Walker, Brian Giles, Shannon Stewart, and Torii Hunter. The infield has added Eric Hinske and Alex Cora. And the rotation has been completely revamped, with Cory Lidle, Jon Rauch, and Sidney Ponson joining Brad Radke, Kenny Rogers, and Joe Mays.

It could be a very interesting summer for the Central, who has also seen the Cleveland Indians attempt to put together somewhat of a winner this year. The Indians have brought in Cliff Politte, Jeff Tam, Johan Santana, and Billy Koch to bolster a very weak bullpen. Indians GM John Cahill also recently added Frank Catalanotto and John Valentin to the middle of the infield for the Indians, replacing Omar Vizquel who was shipped to the White Sox. DH Josh Phelps should be ready to mash some pitchers when starting the season too, coming in with a deal from Toronto. Santana and SP Dan Wright could be expected to step into the rotation, kicking out question mark Jason Bere.

Trading isn't over by a longshot, but it certainly looks like the AL Central should be a very interesting division in 2003 and beyond.
